NEW APPLE PRO COMING!!!!!!!

But didn't they say that months and months ago?

"Today at WWDC Apple announced a new Mac Pro. We don’t know when it
will ship. We don’t know what it will cost. We don’t know what
configurations it will come in. We don’t know if it will work. But we
do know Apple has promised it."

i think even jay was impressed with the new MAC PRO and it's out later
this year.

He did say the showing was a sneak preview of what they are producing,
it was not the launch.

And it's universally praised here in this group, where probably no one
besides myself actually has the money to buy or need one. But it's an
Apple product, and new, so it has to be defended without knowing
anything about cost, availability, noise/heat, details of BTO options,
etc.

I really enjoy sitting back and watching the 'I have more money than
you' arguments here in this group, but I gotta tell ya steve, 'nobody
here can afford a Mac pro but me' is pretty weak sauce. :-)

Sorry, Alan, I hate to agree with Nashton, but Cook did "pre-announce" a
new Mac Pro in 2012.

http://macpro.macrumors.com

From the article on this page entitled "Apple Planning 'Something Really
Different' for New Mac Pro"

The last paragraph of the article says:

"In mid-2012, after a minor update to the Mac Pro was announced at WWDC,
Tim Cook confirmed to a fan that new Mac Pros were coming in 2013, which
was later reiterated by an Apple spokesman. It has also been rumored
that the new Mac Pro would be the first Apple computer in years to be
'Made in the USA'."

Not quite - Cook's statement when pedantically read in full blooded
proper english language merely promised a "something" for the Pro
customer...which was not necessarily a new Mac Pro. While this is
what has apparently come to pass - and was the common media
interpretation (as you point out):

...when you go back to the original statements (yes, both), exactly
what (ie, IF a Mac Pro by name, etc) was left open for interpretation
- particularly int the "clarification" press release. I can dig up
the references next week if you want to read the exact verbiage - or
you can read the threads on this that have appeared in a few forums,
such as the FB 'We Want a New MacPro' page, etc

Sorry if the truth hurts. Haven't heard anyone here say they're going
to buy this new Mac Pro, just that it's the best thing since sliced
bread. I think MacBooks a few generations back are what are typically
owned here.

Tim actually said he'd have something "really great" for Mac Pro
owners in late 2013. His exact words were not that there would be new
"Mac Pros". The spokesman confirmed the email was authentic, he
didn't reiterate that there would be a new Mac Pro.

Tim:

""Although we didn't have a chance to talk about a new Mac Pro at
today's event, don't worry as we're working on something really great
for later next year," the Apple CEO said in an email that was
confirmed authentic by Apple's public relations team to Macworld. "

yeah, i find steve's attitude odd... while $2500 (entry price for a mac pro these days) seems like a lot for a computer these days, the vast majority of us were around a couple decades ago (or much ealier!) when entry level for a decent computer was in the $1500-$2000 range, and upgrading a few mb of ram meant hundreds of dollars. i mean, when i was *super* poor in college i had a $1500 computer, which is close to $2500 in today's money.

It wasn't about money. It was the fact people here were defending a

What do you find odd about my attitude? I'm sending it will cost me
5-6 thousand to get to a working Mac Pro configuration for me.

"something" was coming later next year. It turned out to be a "Mac
Mini Pro", not a "Mac Pro" as we thought of it.

Why can't you expense it? Is what you do just a hobby?

(Yeah, I figured I'd check in here to see the reaction to all the
announcements. Amazing how much of the same crowd is still here.)

Your attitude that the Mac pro is oh so expensive that you're the only
one here that could afford one. They start at $2500 - to put that in
perspective, the original iMac is close to $1900 when assisted for
inflation.

Beside which, according to your website, you're a consultant for IBM
global services. A solid job to be sure, but not exactly bank.

And? Cook didn't make any statements about WHAT was coming other than he
thinks it would "really great" for Mac Pro users. He clearly thinks what
they've announced is that. I guess we'll see.

Their more imminent arrival, eh?
Can't hide the college education, can you?

As for the tired notion of posters that like Windows better are actually
trolls, what would you expect in an advocacy group? Just a bunch of
Apple junkies patting each others back on a daily basis?

Chortle.

Since the former sentence was not in English and makes no sense to
anyone, I'm not surprised you were...getting at that.

Ah. Another one who has this crazy notion that if one can speak English
well, it must mean they've studied for a long time.

And? So?

The claim by implication was that because Cook had somehow misled people
about the next Mac Pro's arrival last year then his statement this year
must not be trustworthy...

...only he didn't mislead: "LATER next year". The "later" refers to the
time within the scope of "next year", otherwise it's simply a tautology.
Now since you've seemed baffled by simpler English "more imminent
arrival", I'll leave you a little time to look up "tautology".

In what was was the former sentence "not in English". Please be specific.
