For those of you who have been call lying little shits by Alan Baker rest assured you are not alone. I don't know how Alan finds time to actually earn a living since he spends so much time trolling newsgroups looking for opportunities to abuse. A quick search showed his trolling in these groups over the last few years:

rec.autos.sport.f1
comp.sys.mac.advocacy
alt.privacy
can.politics
misc.phone.mobile.iphone
rec.sport.golf
alt.politics.usa.republican
alt.fan.rush-limbaugh
alt.global-warming
alt.politics.republican
alt.politics.democrats
misc.phone.mobile.iphone
rec.skiing.alpine
comp.mobile.android
rec.arts.sf.written
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

This MIGHT explain why Alan is now working for an employer, not himself. That way he can draw a salary while trolling USENET looking for opportunities to hurl insults at those who disagree. I wish someone would have the time to document, and if successful the cajones to send to his company, some timestamped working hours posts. Not, me, not going there.

LOL

All I know about you is that you feel free to abuse based on your assumptions of intent.

Did you ever brag about being a millionaire in a certain golf forum?

As for honesty, please tell us the truth about why you are now working for a consulting company. Please tell us what you did for a living out in Ontario right after you left high school. Please tell us why you only went to college for 1 year. Please tell us why you pulled up roots and went to BC. Please tell us who paid for your 500 square foot $100+k (original price) condo. Please tell us what happened to your bakerMEDIA gig. Please tell us why your FB posts are not shared with the world.

Finally, please tell us why you think this selfie

https://digitalfinancial.ca/alan-baker/

portrays a successful professional. OMG, you could have at least put on a clean shirt. BTW I'd love to see the rest of the condo. What's in the background is not very attractive.

A professional's head shot looks like this http://tiny.cc/5ml2vz

I am well dressed, no scraggly facial hair, neutral background, looking directly at the camera, friendly smile. And it's all genuine, that is who I am.

None of that is present in your photo, or your LinkedIn photo. Do you actually want people to take you seriously? Do you know that body language speaks louder than words?

Actually another person active on that golf forum snitched on you in an email I received yesterday. We have quite the offline discussion going on about your history of abuse of other people in various newsgroups. I have never seen that post myself. Thanks for confirming that you made it. Regardless of intent you posted a grossly inaccurate lie. I also learned that you really posted a video supposedly showing you depositing $1000 at an ATM.

More juicy stuff in that conversation too. More of that later. You have a lot of people who despise you and want to talk.

I note that you totally deflected from replying to any other items above. Asshole.

So here is my theory of one item based on timing of life events you supplied. There is no way a single guy left an Ontario job, moved to BC, bought a Vancouver condo, and then set up a new company with no customer base, all without some outside help. No bank would write that mortgage without assurances of income. Most likely a family member fronted money and/or cosigned a mortgage. Or, maybe family bought the condo and you made payments to that person.

Why is bakerMEDIA no longer paying the bills? Did your foul mouth finally do you in or was it incompetence? If your company was making you a great living why are you working for a company? I notice too that 2018 was the year you bought a race car and went to work for Digtal Financial. Coincidence that you needed to do that???? LoL.

And those selfies! OMG. Are you trying to scare away potential Digital Financial clients? If I was in management and saw those I would take them down and let you know to clean up your act and act your age.

Have a great holiday weekend.

Oh, such as a headshot composition troll? That really was lame and you should have
known better, as every industry and every generation has evolved for just what can be
acceptable or not ... case in point, why is it that your own portrait a photo instead of an
oil painting? Likewise, why aren't you wearing black, and with a hat (black) & a white lace
collar? Just because you're not Dutch, nor its no longer the 17th Century isn't an excuse:

Stalking? Just asking a few questions about events you have made public in this group, on LinkedIn and looking at pictures you have posted. And what do I get? No answers, just insults. Why? Almost certainly if you answer with the truth it's embarrassing.

I have applied for several mortgages in my day. A basic metric for getting a mortgage is ability to pay back the money. There you are, freshly arrived in one of the most expensive housing markets in North America. This after moving from job to job in Ontario. You claim to have started up bakerMEDIA after records show you bought the condo. No record of long term employment, no record of a Vancouver job. Wow I ask, how did that happen? According to my sources your mother helped support you after you dropped out of college. That fits. Or maybe it was your brother, the one who gave you a great deal on a car?

So how does that selfie in his condo compare to the other professionals' pictures on the Digital Financial site? Those are the current norm, not Alan in his condo or 17th century Dutch oils. Alan's picture is a sore thumb. Just like Alan himself. I suppose you can say the picture is honest. Good for Alan, not pretending he is something he is not.

Don't know, don't care, as that wasn't the point of the comment. The comment was
noting that standards aren't fixed but they change. The 17C Dutch merchant portraits
exploited time so as to emphasize just how much things have already changed, and
will continue to change. Even the medium is illustrative: what was a 2D projection
on oils has migrated through B&W and Color film to now be a digital 2D image, and
it probably isn't long until it moves again, perhaps to a 3D VR/hologram representation.

> Those are the current norm, ...

No, it is what *you* think the 'current norm' is from your industry and expectations.

That's also why when I look at your volunteered portrait pic from my own profession
perspective, I see elements within your visage which tells me specific things about you,
some of which may be immediately disqualifying for what I may be looking to hire...

...and I'm not talking about gender, race, age of the "you", but other elements therein.

That's true. I'm not looking for a truck driving, welding, electrician, or lawn care position. The image is what I was at the time, an educated well-dressed professional in good health looking for consulting opportunities a field that requires those attributes. Also, the picture was taken by a professional photographer, which in itself sends a subtle message.

Do you actually think Alan looks like a professional computer expert in that amateurish condo interior selfie? He looks like a Gen Y mom's basement-dweller Usenet-addicted geek to me.

The attributes & messages is that of a ''dinosaur", not of today's post-Information Age.

It is a lot warmer & humanistic and appropriate to the product. I'd say that Alan would
get a higher score by Room Rater than you would.

Really? Room rater? I'm retired from consulting but busier than ever flying and training for CAP. We have started traveling again. East Coast and Canada in September, Atlanta for family Christmas, Costa Rica in January, Beaver Creek skiing Feb-March, probably at least one trip to Europe this year. Plus, every chance I get I'm out flying RC models and quad drones. My only basement time is building and modifying aircraft. This month we bought a new embroidery machine that the wife and I are learning how to program. No Hugh, we are living the dream. Travel, hobbies, family...love it.

Read Alan's reply related to that condo picture. He forgot it was on the site. Hope he changes it.

Yup. It illustrates how the workplace has evolved with teleworking. My own setup
hasn't been fancy ... just a framed print backdrop, but it has a useful note tagged on it
that's only visible when I'm not in the chair:

<https://www.huntzinger.com/photo/2022/BRB.jpg>

> I'm retired from consulting ...

Which then makes your headshot pic even more obsolete and irrelevant.

> We have started traveling again. East Coast and Canada in September, Atlanta for family
> Christmas, Costa Rica in January, Beaver Creek skiing Feb-March, probably at least one trip

With what appears to be a chronological listing, suggesting that 'Costa Rica in January'
means next month, and those that follow are 2023 plans subject to change as well.

> ...No Hugh, we are living the dream. Travel, hobbies, family...love it.

To assuage your fears, others have been traveling too .. just not advertising it here on COLA.
Case in point:

<https://www.huntzinger.com/photo/2022/brac/20220523-1303-beach.jpeg>
<https://www.huntzinger.com/photo/2022/France/2022FR_Eugisheim.jpg>

Plus much of the 'hobby' year was busy with a project that I've also not talked much about.
But suffice that 'Stage II' is now complete.

> Read Alan's reply related to that condo picture. He forgot it was on the site.

Doesn't matter when you'll invariably contrive some sort of criticism to whine about.

Even a formal portrait headshot just like yours, you'll then complain that the color
of the background isn't exactly the same shade! /s

My God Hugh, you complain about travel plans being plans then accuse me of contriving criticism. LOL!

The point about the portrait was that is was suitable for a purpose at a point in time, not my current situation. I don't have a company website to post to these days. It went away more than a year ago.

I've not advertised my travel here either, at least until you implied that I'm a stay-at-home dinosaur.

Actually the picture of Alan on the Who We Are company page is OK, and similar to other staff shown on the site.

Looks good to me.

Speaking of theories, how about theories being used to extrapolate into imagined lies based on 0 personal experience, actual observation and limited knowledge? Like these:

15 touch and goes in an hour of logged flight time
correct use of roundabout lanes in Carmel Indiana
auto structural impingement into the passenger area in a crash
a new 16" Apple Mac dying 14 days after purchase

Considering that they were totally out of the blue, it was a transparent brag attempt.

FWIW, I could also list my plans too, with our dead 2020 list (thanks CoVid) to illustrate.
It was: Spring/Montreal (weekend) & TN; Summer/Norway(Svalbard cruise?); Fall/South
Africa (DM), & Brac (S+K); Late/Australia (D+S), plus the short list also had: New Zealand
(south island); Spain; Croatia. This is now going to be inputs into our 2023 formulations,
with of course flexibility to adapt/pivot, like last month's trip to France, which initially started
with a different EU destination.

Which means you're now admitting that it is a relic of the past...dinosaur.

No, the "dinosaur" was in the context of technologically driven social change.
