When I connect my A650is to the MacBook nothing happens. I don't get
any sort of icon on the desktop and nothing appears int he Finder.
I installed the software, and when I launch the EOS utility the icons
are grayed out and I can't do anything.
When I launch the Camera Window app it says it can't connect.
When I plug it into my XP machine it pops up right away and I can browse
the pics, so I know the camera is working fine.
I can use a USB jump drive in the MacBook's USB ports so I know they are
working correctly.

Are you updating your software regularly? On my main Mac all cameras are
recognised, but on an iBook that I hadn't updated for a while I had the
same problem until I ran a series of updates.

Hi.
Go to Applications and open Image Capture. Go to Edit>Preferences. Image
Capture Preferences window appears. Choose an application to open when
you connect your camera. it's probably set to "No application."

Hope this helps:)

Slight correction. Preferences is in the "Image Capture" menu.

You're correct. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this is where the problem lies.
I have connected many cameras without a hitch to Macs.

Hmmm. If your Mac had a card reader you wouldn't have this problem.
You could put your card in your Mac and be done with it. According to
the Mactards in here, the problems you are having with your camera are
actually a feature so quit bitching.

Hi, thanks for replying, I tried the same cable on my XP machine and it
works fine.
(I only have one - I hope it doesn't walk)
My Sony W70 works fine.

Thanks for the helpful reply.
I do have a card reader but sometimes it "walks" as in somebody takes
and doesn't give it back for a few days. Yes, I'll splurge $3 for one
on eBay when I get a chance. Until then.
