You have got to be absolutely brain dead.
Why do I need a built in card reader? So my laptop can basically grow
to twice its current size?
Or... I can spend a massive three bucks on one of these.

Wow! Imagine that! I can take it out of the bag when I need it... or
leave it in there when I don't.
But you... You are the ultimate God of portability. Your card reader
is built in. Consuming power. Constantly. What's your battery life?
An hour?
You realize you paid something on the order of $50 for your card reader.
Builtin card readers don't consume power when not in use. And that $3
reader is useless to you if you need it and forgot to bring it.
Steve
You were the one complaining about not being able to connect your
Canon camera directly to your computer. If you simply put the card in
a built-in card reader this thread wouldn't even exist.
But I don't need a built in card reader you troglodyte humuculous.
Are you blind as well as stupid?
Also, your "built in" card reader is simply a USB reader connected
internally via USB. Check it out in Device Manager. So basically you
paid for the same thing I have just with a bit of glue on the frame.
So yeah, my solution is easily better than yours.
You are quite incorrect. The built in card reader is USB, just
connected internally. Basically the same thing as mine. Go in Device
manager and you can tell how many milliamps are being drawn.
How do you think the USB bus knows when a card is inserted or removed?
There's an interruption in the flow of current.
The USB card reader tits in the bag. Taking up about one cubic inch of
space.
Also, my Sony cam works fine. So it isn't a problem with this machine
or the OS it is a problem with the Canon Camera
The USB ports are there anyways. Don't buy the power usage excuse, sorry.
Steve
With nothing plugged in they don't take up power. When you have
something plugged in, they do. With the built in reader it is
constantly plugged in.
Get it? Not that difficult.
Luckily, I don't have a Mac. So I can connect my camera directly to my
PC, but I don't, and you can't. Sometime I use the card reader, I can.
You can't.
Nice machine you got there. LOLZ
Are you blind as well as stupid?
My Sony camera connects fine.
LOLZ. Did you update your virus sigs?
No card plugged in, no power used.
Steve
Are the personal attacks necessary? His answers have made a lot of sense.
You should take good free advice and possibly you wouldn't have all the
problems you seem to constantly have.
BTW: use your other name. That way, the rest of the group can disregard
whatever you say.
Wrong.
The presence of a USB device - (which a card reader is) consumes power.
Go try it.
Seriously.... screen shots and all.
Yes. I treat people the way they ought to be treated.

What problems have I had? This is the only one and it is solved.

I have no other name. You seem to be quite confused. Which doesn't
surprise me; as it doesn't take much apparently.
LOLZ
Hmmm. Persecution complex, Superiority complex, Napoleon complex, MPD.
Quite a bag of tricks you are.
That's like vomit telling shit it stinks.
LOLZ, I say.
Since your Canon camera doesn't work with your Mac. Please send it to
me.
Why?
Can't you afford your own?
Get a job. I'm sure they need you at Geek Squad... all those Windows
need somebody to install card readers... Not to mention all the other
various problems they have.
I can afford one. But a crappy camera like the one you are using would
be for my 6 month old niece. She's smart enough to figure out how to
get the camera to work. You are not.
Must suck to not even be able to use your Mac to do photography. But
hey, at least you can surf the internet and usenet. LOLz
At least you know you're shit.

Show where you can buy one of those for three dollars.

An empty socket doesn't consume power.

External readers more than internal readers. There's no way an internal
reader would cost $50.

Keep your fantasies to yourself.
Best I found in a few minutes of searching is $4:

Inflation is a bitch.
YOu need to keep up.
Its been eorking for the past few days.
Do the chicks look at you when you drive the black & white VW?
LOLz.
Not including shipping and handling which adds another $7 to the
price.
