firmware update for Toshiba 8X-DVD (SD-C2402)

I would like to update the firmware for my "Toshiba 8X-DVD (SD-C2402)"
from v.1007 to v.1009 using the following:

I wonder if anyone has the experience of using this update?

I have a Presario notebook with the "Toshiba 8X-DVD (SD-C2402)".

What exactly does it fix/add? Does your DVD function as it is now? You can
do what you want, but if your DVD works fine and aren't sure what the update
will do to your drive, it might better off leaving it as is.

The current version 1007 is not able to read the "Imation CD-R Black discs"

I hope that the new version will help. I do not need the "no region lock"
feature.

Hi Peter,
did the new version fix the problem with black disks? I would also
like a way around this problem
