Any one has experience of upgrading the Satelkite Pro 430 CDT?
What are the choices of HD that I can use? what is the max. storage that
I can upgrade to without changing BIOS, etc?

I am thinking of using IBM Travelstar series ? Is it compatible? What
models works best?
Appreciate if you can send me an email to advice

Hi Ernest:

The Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDT is a fairly simple notebook to upgrade.
Underneath the battery, there are 2 screws that hold the metal hard drive
caddy in place. After removing the screws, you can slide the caddy & drive
out. The caddy has 4 screws that hold the drive in place & it is simple to
remove them & install a new drive.

We specialize in notebook hard drive upgrades & carry mainly Toshiba hard
drives. I have upgrade many of the 430s to 6.4GB without a new BIOS.
Toshiba should be shipping their new 10GB within 2 - 3 weeks. We got a
price drop late last week - the 4.3GB is now $189 & the 6.4GB is $269.

Check out our website & email me direct if you have questions.

Thanks!

You can add just about any brand 2.5" hard drive to your unit. You
MAY have to add a drive-overlay program (ie. EZdrive or DiskManager)
to handle larger hard drives.

If your unit has a special adapter/drive caddy and as long as you
don't need the old drive after the conversion, you can save some $$ by
canabalizing this adapter and swapping it onto your new drive.

I have had great luck with CMS's drive's which can be purchased with a
PCMCIA adapter and software to clone the existing drive onto the new
drive. The beauty of this method is that not only do you not need to
reinstall all of your software, but you end up with a neat little
adapter that allows you to use the OLD drive via the PCMCIA slot.

Good Luck
