Gateway Solo 2500

I have a chance to pick up a Solo 2500 at a good price. Is this a good
machine? Anything I should be aware of? Also, I will need to buy an ac
adapter for it. Is there a generic adapter available, or should I go to
Gateway? Thanks.

There is no "go to Gateway" option for you. They make okay laptops,
but they are adamant in their refusal to sell so much as a screw to a
2nd owner. You buy it used, you're on your own. If the current seller
is the original owner, he's got to get you the adapter himself.
This policy is why I'd never get a Gateway.

That's a good reason to exclude Gateway.
