Ive just bought this laptop from a secound-hand shop, but being a newbie to
laptops i didnt realise that it didnt have any sound hardware built in (well
according to windows 98).
My question is that, is there any sound cards available to plug into the
PCMCIA slot as i havnt seen any advertised..and where to buy.

Looking forward to any advise given

Yes, the Toshiba 100 and 105 are the ONLY Toshiba Pentiums that DO NOT have
sound. Which is why I would not have recommended them.

There are PCMCIA sound cards, you can find lots of them on E-Bay. The issue may
be that you have a sound card, but no built-in speakers (going to carry them
around with you, always, if you want sound). Let's face it, this is not what
you want. You know it, and I know it [been there]. So, you are going to end up
replacing the computer. Might as well just do that now. I hope that you didn't
pay too much for it. You can look on E-Bay and see what they are going for.

Try looking for a product called .WAVJammer. It's made by a company called
New Media Technology Corp.

Don't be so sure ;-)

We have two 110CS's in my office which don't have sound either.

Right now I'm in the process of comparing the DSP Portable Sound Plus
(with 4.05 driver) to the WAV jammer...

I owned a 105 CS which also was sans sound. I purchased a Panasonic Portable
CD-rom (KXL-745 4X Model) with built in stereo sound system. It worked quite
well and provided a relatively compact solution to my system's lack of
multimedia. The Panasonic Portables came in two basic configurations - those
which supported laptops WITH a built in sound card and those WITHOUT. Either
way the interface is PCMCIA. Definitely worth a look.
