I hope someone can help me here... I am trying to get the MWAVE system
to run on a thinkpad 755CX with windows 98. I have downloaded the
drivers from IBM and the install says that the system is 'INSTALLED'
but there is no sound, modem etc. When I run the Mwave mixer the error
'Mwave driver not running'..
Any takers?

FYI, I have a LOT of accessory items for 755's, including RAM cards, HD's,
PCMCIA soundcards, docking stations with built-in cdrom, PCMCIA 56K modems,
etc....let me know if you need anything...

The 755CX machines with a serial number ending in SBx do not have the DSP
card. The ones ending in HBx _do_ have the DSP card.

Really!? It has been my experience that the vast majority of the TP75x
series machines _do_ have the DSP Mwave modem/soundcard.
Perhaps it's an OZ thing? Incompatible with the local phone service perhaps?
Although, the last time I was down under I had no problems connecting with
the Mwave modem in my Pent. 75 755CD using the data port in my hotel room.
We're heading back your way in July and I'll be bringing my new TP600. I'll
let you know how well I can or cannot connect using the internal modem.

Check to IBM website for the pdf doc - twbook.pdf which gives all the
specs for the earlier models.
My 755CX sings like a canary and answers the phone for me when I'm
out... Connects to the web at 33,600kbs with the onboard MWave unit
too!
