I think I have narrowed my choice to the Toshiba Satellite 2435-S255 and was
wondering if anyone had any experiance with this modle, good or bad?
The one concern I have is that from what I have bean able to gather is that
it uses the standared P4 chip and not the mobil version. Is this right? If I
am correct how does it perform with heat and also battery life?

Thank you Brian Kelley

There have been a lot of thermal (heat) problems with laptops that use
desktop P4 chips.

Check out the Satelite 5205-S703. I am drooling for one as soon as the
price drops to about $1,600

The Toshiba S255 doesn't seem be one of them. I've been using one for
about 3 weeks without any thermal or stability issues to complain
about. I think the Northwood P4 in this laptop is doing a great job
for my bursty-cpu usage applications. I don't know how well it'd
handle Prime95 tho...

I'm returning mine tomorrow. Wireless card compatability problems and
Touchpad is flaky. Go to their support forum on Compuserv (free) and
look at the reported problems. You can get there from Toshiba's
support page.

Good Luck Richard
