Does anyone have an opinions or experiences with the Presario 2701 (or
2700) from Compaq? I have always thought Compaq was junk but then I
always thought Dell was the best quality. After looking at the 2701 in a
retail store yesterday I was fairly impressed by the design an features.
It sure felt more solid than my wife's Inspiron 4000. It also has
upgradeable Video memory, up to 32 MB using the ATI Radeon.
I would be greatful for any insight people might have into or with
this machine. Thanks.

I am thinking of ordering this laptop next week. I had ordered and returned
a Dell 8100 few months back. The keyboard and case of the Presario 2700 is
much much better. The LCD screen on the Dell is brighter though. Compaq
just stopped the free shipping and $50 off (which I want) and now offer free
carrying case and Li-Ion battery (which I don't care for).

hi there, i got mine (2701EA) last week. The design of it is just
excellent (used to have a Dell I8100), feels compact and looks
handsome, the JBL speakers are awesome, the keys are much bigger than
in the I8100, the screen with the 'clear type' on is a beauty, it
comes with seperate DVD and CD-RW drives, and is somewhat lighter than
the i8100 (not much though, they both are heavy)However, i think that
the Dell screen has a wider viewing angle. The minus is the
XPhome...excellent piece of notebook.
