Hi,
I plan to buy Toshiba's Portege light laptop - I found two models that
fit my needs, 3020CT or 3025CT. I looked at the specification of both
models, but did not find any differences. So why do they have
different model numbers?

Thanks,

Zalek

Toshiba adds a 5 to the model number to indicate a laptop sold retail.
This typically means a shorter warranty (1 year instead of 3 years) and a
different software install.

The 3025 is sold to brick-and-mortar retailers with a little extra software
loaded on. The 3020 is sold generally through mail-order outlets without
the extra software. They are otherwise identical machines. Toshiba does
this all the time to keep stores from having to match prices from
mail-order houses from the "same" machine.
