Hyperdata says that the backup software should allow you to assign
other IRQ's. So it is Colorado's fault for having bad software.
Colorado says that it is most likely the sound card that is stealing
the IRQ. They want me to try to turn off the sound card. There is no way
in the CMOS setup, or any external programs, that I know of, that will
turn the sound card off. The sound card can only be accessed thru
windows. I have tried every IRQ that it lets me, but I cannot get IRQ7
freed up.
So the backup software will not work in windows at all. The error
message states that there is no IRQ assigned to LPT1, or that something
else is using it. In DOS the backup runs at half speed, because there is
no IRQ assigned to LPT1, and the software is just writing the data
directly out to the address of LPT1 (378).
I have run Norton's Utilities Diagnostics, and it states that
nothing is assigned to IRQ7.
What I need to know is: 1) Does anyone know how to turn off the
sound card, so I can see if it is grabbing IRQ7? 2) Does anyone know how
to change the port from LPT1 IRQ7 to LPT2 IRQ5? 3) Does anyone know how
to fix or force LPT1 so that IRQ7 is assigned to it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
