I asked a friend of mine to read the message, and he guessed that the
sender was about 9 years old, certainly not 23.

Can the UK members identify which area this is? Still tracing the IP
(80.4.37.98) & cable modem connection. If it were in the U.S. I would have
all the info by now.

That was the IP for the two posts within 22 minutes of each other
(11:09:21 & 11:31:02 BST) on Sunday morning. I have seen that IP live again,
but it stands a great chance of being dynamically assigned. It is a cable
modem connection with the last hop router IP of 80.1.79.70 (which also seems
to be the area around where Leah lives in Loughborough, Leicestershire).
Perhaps the small town of "Shepshed", west of Loughborough.
Newsreader: OE5.5, probably SP1 (not SP2 anyway). Windows platform
(normally WinME or slightly earlier). The only think I can tell from the
machine on the IP right now is that it is Windows of some flavo[u]r. In the
machine name it is "PC2" (the second of the household?).
Leah needs to get ahold of me (I have tactfully requested her or her
parent's input) for me to know more. I have wore out my leads for now.
Dipping into the S*ny groups to see if Michael has been there....

(pc2-shep1-5-cust98.leic.cable.ntl.com [80.4.37.98]) ntl Cable modem link in
the Leicester area, probably DHCP-assigned like mine (e.g.
pc2-glfd1-3-cust158.gfd.cable.ntl.com [213.105.184.158]), depending upon
whose and which service he's misusing. Even so the lease times are greater
than 12 hours even for ntl's dynamic IP these days.
Grammar, spelling, interests, attitudes etc. all suggest an ESN
(educationally sub-normal) individual with social inadequacy issues.

Our boy "Cheats" was into Harry Potter back in May of this year,
claiming to be 13 at one point (but with the same "mobile" phone number).
Crude at points with minors present, even posting a link to a porn site.
Talked of "tongueing" an underage actress of the Harry Potter films (if this
guy *is* an adult, someone needs to know this info).
Did stints promoting warez & "free" product sites off & on. He seems to
post dozens & then disappear for a time, coming back with a new address
(getting nuked for spamming?). Always posting the start of a thread, never
replying to anything on the newsgroups (more than a dozen, about three being
semi-regular to him).
His root connection with NTLWorld.com never seems to have been affected,
despite him showing the address in the clear. Other clearly reported him. He
rages against spam in other places too, actually not knowing it is probably
his freebie mail, posting his address, & becoming a good target to those he
angers.
Sad really. I *almost* feel sorry for the punk: He pleads for friends in
a posting, or rants against members obscenely, then begs them he is sorry.
He has no one respond to him & never goes further than the initial post.
Ok, I'm over it. His Internet access is going to get Nuclear Hot now.
