Hi William,

What's up?
Or rather: what's down?

http://www.walshcomptech.com//ohlandl/
"Page not found"

http://www.walshcomptech.com/
"Temporarily disabled" and "Sorry! This site is temporarily unavailable"

http://12.206.251.215/
"Problem loading page; the connection was reset"

At least http://greyghost.mooo.com/ is still there . . .

Hi!

Hosting provider seems to have screwed something up during their "migration"
of all customers to a "new and improved system".

I can't even log in to the new site control panel! I've been in touch with
their technical support and they are "working on it". I'm not sure when they
will have it fixed.

Dynamic IP and not mine any longer...

That's the one to use.

Ah! You have my commiseration . .

While I can (most of the time; not always!) understand why a new system is
sometimes needed, I cannot for the life of me understand why they can't
_first_ implement the new system, _then_ wait and see what happens; _before_
trying to improve upon it.
Trying both at the same time is a recipe for disaster.

My prepaid-cellphone-provider pulled the same stunt a couple of weeks ago:
They migrated to another (I suppose "new *and* improved") platform for their
customersupport-database.
And that necessitated a databaseconversion, you can imagine.
And then they had planned to do some major maintenance on the cellphone
network _the next weekend_.
Wrong, wrong, wrong again.
Something hiccupped during the migration.
Then something burped during the conversion.
Then they postponed the maintenancework. Now *that* was a smart move ;-)))

Took'em more than six weeks to clear up the mess before they replanned the
maintenance.

And still "My Provider-account" is performing sluggish at best while not
displaying all information.

Does it have your version of the Tool somewhere? I was looking for it and
stumbled on the various errors, then tried mooo, but couldn't find the pages
there.

Ah, guess what? It was much the same business here! (Apart from the cell
phone network anyway, which could not apply here.)

My account information didn't make it into their new database. It seems they
are still maintaining the old system alongside the new one, so they copied
the information. Now it works!

The second problem is my fault and not the hosting provider's. I did not
update the DNS records so that the domain name points to the right place.
Interestingly, my e-mail has still been working fine--so I guess the MX
record was not impacted in the same way as the others.

Now that I've said something about it, just watch... :-)

No, but it should! I will put it out there in the near future. Sadly, it's
been neglected and not brought up to date. I'd like to merge the most
current information from Louis with some of the stuff he hasn't picked up
from me (card outlines). I'd also like to fix or remove every dead link. The
prospects of doing all of this (although I posted to the group with every
bad link I could find in LFO's original) are daunting, and that is why I've
never done it.

Hi William,

I ran this against ohlandl in June. http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/ohlandl/linkchecker-out.html

You can get it from http://linkchecker.sourceforge.net/.
