Next question....Does anybody want this drive? I have no use for it, and
would send it, its bezel and sled to anybody who will pay me for
shipping and send me a bezel and sled for a floppy drive for a 95. Or, I
would pay shipping if you sent me a 2.88 MB drive (that will work in my
95) and a bezel and sled for it. :)
Additionally, i have this other stuff I don't want, and would send out
to whoever would pay shipping for it.....
an XGA card, works, pulled from my 8595 when i got an XGA2
A card that appears to be a "PC Network Card" as seen at
http://webpages.charter.net/ohlandl/NIC/PC_Network.html
It has 2 RJ-12 plugs, and says ASM PN 16F1039 on the edgecard
socket.
Floppy Drive Riser card from a 50z ASM P/N 33F5960
IBM-FRU P/N 72X8524
Hard drive riser from a 50z IBM-FRU 90X9441
and lastly, a floppy drive from a 50z, with a card-type connector and a
clear plastic sled attached to the bottom. P/N 15F7503
Please, if you want any of this stuff, email me at psma...@home.com

If it's the same as the unit that came with the 8580, it's an old and
slow tape drive you probably don't want to bother with except as a
collectors' item. Or maybe the 95s came with a different unit that
was much better... doubt it though, if it were any good it would
probably be SCSI.

This is useful. At least for 8560 / 8580 owners. The floppy drive in
these machines is very slow, so slow that Linux has problems using
it. But the 50Z floppy drive will fit in the same bay (if you remove
the plastic cable holder and find some way to secure it from sliding
backwards) and works well as a replacement. I did this to my 8580 a
little while ago. The main flaw is having no eject button, just a bit
of metal sticking out. That's because the 50Z's button is a different
shape in some way and won't fit with the 8580's bezel (not even after
I sawed away at the bezel to make the hole larger).
