Last night I powered on a Personal Typing System (if there's more than one,
it's the one that's based on a Model 30-XT planar turned sideways with the
PSU on top). It didn't go very far as there is nothing on the hard disk
right now. It was a bit of a trick to plug in a keyboard--I had to give up
on the cheap Memorex board I was using and go find a Model M. There just
wasn't enough room for the longer plug on the Memorex 'board.

What would one of these have come with in terms of "typing" software? And
can it be used as a conventional PC?

Mine doesn't have an HDD, just two floppies. BIOS is cosmetically different
than M30's, but adheres to PC's BIOS standard. It will boot and run DOS
fine, so you have access to any editors DOS can run.
