Greetings to all newcomers to this newsgroup!
It comes just in time to post my request:
The company I work for bought several PS/2 Model 30-021's when IBM in
Sweden promoted a sale! Now they regret this and decided that they need
an upgrade! Luckily enough I managed to convince them of my need for a
larger machine and got a Model 70! My question is:

How can I proceed in buying a larger hard-disk (fixed-disk or hard-card)
for the Model 30? We have 2 employees which will be in the US during
August and they will be buying some equipment. Do I need a whole new
driver plus the disk? Can I purchase a 3 1/2 inch drive and still use
the installed driver? I have had no experience with this and was asked
to find out what could be done. What should suggest they buy (within
reasonable rates) and how?

For those who do not know the PS/2 Model 30-021 ...
8086 with 8 MHz clock
XT-bus with 0-wait state
640 kB memory, expandable to 2.6 MB
64 kB ROM with CBIOS
20 MB 3 1/2" fixed hard disk
1 720 kB 3 1/2" floppy disk drive.

For general information what kind of expansion cards should I ask them to
buy for these machines, if I manage to convince my boss about the
improvement of the machine...

Gratefully and anxiously awaiting,
/Phil.

Buy more disk. Is that like need more cowbell?

It looks like you are oblivious to the drive interface for the Model 30.

Great advice!

Though he will also need a TARDIS or do some hardcore landfill
excavating to recover those Model 30's from 30 years ago...

I plugged SCSI cards into all of my old PS/2s when I was still using

Once you have a SCSI bus you can hang all sorts of stuff on an old
PS/2. The cable out of an old RS/9000 is great because it has a bunch
of 50 pin Bergs on it. You can crimp on a 50 pin Centronics plug if
that is what you need. AS/400 "shoeboxes" are cool for a 5.25" full
high or multi smaller drive external enclosure.
