I'm running Cakewalk for Windows and as a MIDI connection I have PAS16.
When playing my music PAS16 randomly send some garbage notes to my
Korg 03R/W. What is most annoying is that if I have a long playing
sound in that channel (organ, violin) the note will play for the rest
of my song.
Has anyone had similar problems?

The PAS-16's MIDI port is notorious for dropping MIDI events. If a
note on is dropped, a note won't be played. If running status is used
and the initial event is dropped, garbage will be played. If a note
off event is dropped, a note will sustain until its voice is stolen.
I don't think you can do anything about these problems.
Phat.
If you are using MidiMate, yes, it's a well-known problem that sofar
MediaVision has been unwilling/unable to fix.
One user got a refund (see below)...the rest of us just got burned.

If all you're going to do is single-finger pecking, by all means,
buy or build a MIDI-MATE. The Sound Blaster MIDI cable will also work.
Keep in mind, however, the PAS 16 DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY for serious
compositions. I bugged Media Vision for 4 months --- I guess they're
tired of listening to me because they're refunding my purchase price!!

This is a known problem with the chip that does the MPU401 emulation on
the PAS16 board. It will occasionally lose bytes in the midi stream
causing wrong notes, missed note ons, missed note offs, wrong velocity,
etc.
Be sure to call Mediavision and complain LOUDLY. There has been a
discussion about this going on in the MEDIAVISION forum on Compuserve.
MV knows about the problem but their only solution is to wait for an
upgrade product which you will have to pay for.
