Has anybody else figured out how to solve these problems?~
TIA,~

Well the way midi works is it sends the note information on the midi bus
to turn that note "on" (ie. play it), and then after some duration sends
another message to the device to turn the note "off". In your case where
these notes are stuck on, the Casio has not received the "off" message
from the PAS and hence continues to play the note. It could be assumed
that it hasn't necessarily received all the "on" messages either, you
just can't hear this one though except for a lack of notes. I don't know
what the exact problem is, but I hope this gives you a clue about what's
going on. If the computer is apt to lock up, then the problem is most
probably with it. Having a shot in the dark, I would assume you have a
confict with the IRQ setting between the PAS and another card and this is
causing the lost midi messages and eventual lockup.

I have this same problem and several others have mentioned it on
this list and the PAS mailing list. Someone posted here recently
that they called Media Vision about it again and finally Media Vision
was able to reproduce the trouble. However, I've not heard anything
about there being any fix for it yet.
I know this doesn't help much but perhaps lets you know that you're
not alone on this.

What I write does not necessarily represent the view of my employer.
All through the months of May and June I harassed MV about the
stuck note problem. They finally acknowledged that there is a design
problem with the PAS-16. There is no way around this problem (other
than buying a different MIDI interface). If you want to harass Media
Vision yourself, the person to call is Sue Cooke at ext. 5808. I finally
gave up --- I gave the PAS to my kids (for games) and I use their
SB Pro for my MIDI interface.
I am thoroughly disgusted with Media Vision. They make what appears
to be a good attempt at customer service. Unfortunately, the end result
is poor performance and a VERY dissatisfied customer. MV is the classic
case of a company that has grown too large, too quickly.
Good Luck,

I've also had similar problems with 'stuck notes' using the PAS-16's
external MIDI so you aren't alone. I've talked to MediaVision tech
support twice--they're aware of the problem but don't have a solution. It
is definitely not the sequencing software, and though IRQ conflicts can
occur, I removed all my cards, tried every IRQ/DMA combo and the problem
persisted. Finally, I bought a Roland MPU midi I/F. It works perfectly
up to the limits of my software and synth (I kept the PAS-16, but I only
use the sampling capabilities).
