Hi, everyone, first time poster --

I've had a Crystal Lake 140 for some years now and love the sound. I have
always had a conflict of some sort that hangs i up occaisonally, and
always prevents it from shutting down cleanly. I suspect is is an PnP or
IDE issue, even though the on-board IDE is disabled.
Anyway, got a new system, PII 266 w/ Intel AL440LZ chipset, and the sound
card really hosed me up.
I've given up and am looking at new sound cards.
Top priority: really good, realistic wavetable sound. Also game
compatability.
I tried the SB AWE64 Gold, and the wavetable just didnt sound good to me.
Have I not set it up correctly? I dont really know how to use the sounf
font stuff, but thought the card sounded only fair right out of the box.
Questions: 1. Can/how do I "tweak" the AWE64, or 2. Can you recommend some
good sound cards or me? I'll spend $100-300?.

Thanks!
