Hello,
I have a SB32 PnP. When I go into the mixer and set the levels the
way I like, it doesn't save the settings. I tried preferences/save
settings on exit, turned on and off. It just will not save the
settings. Is it possible that the Win 95 built in mixer is making it
loose the settings? The settings will stay in the mixer correctly
until I exit and restart windows. Any ideas? If possible, please
send comments to: nex...@ix.netcom.com
Thanks,
Dave

Although I may not be able to answer your question, maybe I can provide a
clue!

I use a Diamond Stealth 2001TV video card/tv card combo. I had noticed that
when I turn the tv on the balance was off center. When I went into the
awemixer to reset it all was fine until I turn the tv back on again. I
tried the same settings you did. It turns out that the tv driver software
was controlling the balance. Once I figured out that the tv tuner had
stereo sound and a balance control (dah) all was resolved. Moral: check
your W95 mixer or any other software that might be resetting awemixer.

I have never used Creative's mixers with my AWE. I think you should
be using the Win95 mixer. It works excellent. In Control Panel under
"Multimedia", you can choose to show Win95's mixer icon in the tray.
Use these mixer adjustments for both Win95 sounds and DOS sounds; it
is global. For instance, if you adjust MIDI or Wave levels using
Win95's mixer, all of your DOS based games will be so adjusted as well
(both in and out of Win95). This means that Creative's older windows
mixer and SB16SET are no longer needed.

I think the Win 95 volume adjuster thing is resetting the values. I
noticed that it always has the same setting as the AWE mixer. I
always end up readjusting them like every day. Actually, every time I
reboot. I took the Win 95 volume thing off the taskbar. Still it
changes though. I wonder if I can edit my registry and set it up so
win 95 has no say in the volume adjustment. Anybody know how to go
about this? Please let me know.
