Hi, I need to know whether the upcoming Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold CMS2
(Q1 1998, been told around Feb) will still be a 16-bit ISA card, or
whether this will be their first PCI card!?

I'm really hoping it's still ISA so I can use it for my old computer
(I've returned a newly bought AWE64 Gold to wait it out). But then of
course I can't wait to get the SB Live! (EMU10K1-based) PCI card for
my NEW computer! :-)

BTW, does anyone have any recommendation for a good 6-pc Dolby Digital
5.1 (AC-3) computer speaker system? I'm looking for something in the
same or better class than the Cambridge SoundWorks MicroWorks (which
I've also recently bought), or preferrably an upgrade solution to add
to my MicroWorks (i.e. like Cambridge's DeskTop Theater 5.1 Upgrade)
that will be matched and balanced. This rules out the PCWorks-sized
DeskTop Theater 5.1, of course :-)

the gold cms2 is an isa card....only drawback to it is that to get the
full functionality of the surround sound speaker set...you have to use
two of the slots...it's got 1 16bit isa card for the sound card
itself...and 1 8bit isa card (still works in a 16bit isa slot) for the
second set of speakers.

When i inquired why they did that...I was told that it was because if you
put all of that hardware on one card, it would be longer than the old
ct3990 cards (huge full length isa cards) and would probably run into
problems with placement of the processor except on atx mboards
