How do you connect a tape player to the computer so you can put your audio
tapes into wave, midi or mp3 files to be saved on a cd?

2 RCA Males to -> 1/8" Stereo male, if you're just using any standard
SoundBlaster compatible card. More info on this and other subjects on my web
page under "Recording Info"

First of all, you must find a jack 3.5" stereo-to-jack 3.5" stereo audio cable. Use it to connect the "Line-out" or ("Headphones") output of the tape player to the "line-in" input of you sound card. Then, enable the "Line in" volume fader in your soundcard's software mixer (you might want to experiment with the input level in order to avoid distortion caused by an excessive source level) and you're ready to record. Being tape recordings, you should use a better program than the standard "Windows Recorder" provided by Microsoft; a good choice is Steinberg's Clean! 1.5, a very powerful and easy-to-use program that performs on-the-fly noise reduction, audio restoration and even audio enhancement. That very program has also CD-R burning functionality, so you won't need anything else.

Thanks. However i am having a lot of difficulty finding a supplier in
the UK - and you can't order from the UK Steinberg web site.

Incomprehensible.

So I may order from the US. What's a good price? The best I am finding
is $99.
