ok what are you trying to use the card under? win3.1?win95? dos?
under dos you need to use the ram support on the CD and use GF1
support like GRAVIS ULTRASOUND in the software....
if the software has direct interwave support then you need to download
one of the FFF library's out there and that replaces the PAT format.
also to use the ram in WIN95 you need to setup a FFF library... go to
gravis's FTP site and download GUSPRO2A.ZIP from the submit directory
and try that.. i personaly converted the GUSPRO2 package into FFF
format for GUS PnP owners and i have an extensive README.TXT in there
on HOW to implement the lib.... how ya figure it out...
I too had a problem finding this elusive "SETUP.EXE" file. This file
will only present itself if you do the DOS INSTALL from Floppy #2. I
would suggest installing the DOS portion into another directory, such as
DOSULTRA or /ULTRAPNP/DOS. This way you won't have conflicts of DOS
programs and WIN95 programs (which really are the same thing, but I won't
go into my whole spout of how Windows is really DOS).
However, the Win95 drivers are supposed to see the ram automatically
through the use of Plug & Pray... that is, if you actually believe in
that sort of thing.
Be warned! The SETUP.EXE program requires 560k of ram to run! If you
have a mouse driver and a CD driver installed in DOS you'll likely be
around 540k. You might have to disable those drivers in your
autoexec.bat and config.sys files. To do this, goto your dos prompt and
enter the command "edit config.sys" (or autoexec.bat). Goto the lines
which refer to your cd-rom and mouse and add the word "rem" to them. So
if you saw:
device=c:\dos\mouse.com
you would make it look like:
rem device=c:\dos\mouse.com
You then need to reboot your system for the changes to take effect. Run
setup, and recognize your memory. Then you'll have to go back and take
those "rem" statements out and reboot again. Now you'll have everything
back the way it was, except you should have all of your gus memory
recognized. Then again, I'm still using the 512k that came with the PnP
Pro. I haven't actually added any memory to it yet. I'd be interested
in hearing how it goes.
