I have an old PC RT in my computer collection. It is in quite good shape
and complete
with keyboard, mouse and monitor. It even boots up just fine after all
those years of being
stored in a basement by its previous owner.
The problem is: while it boots up fine to the AIX 2.2 login prompt, I do
not have a root
password nor any other account. The previous owner did not remember that
any longer.
Is there any way to "break in" to this old AIX system? Or is there some
maintenance mode
that could be used to recover access to this system?
Thanks for any hint ...

You will need the "Install/Maintenance" diskette. Boot from this
diskette and you can enter maintenance mode. Somewhere on the WEB
is the procedure to edit the /etc/security/passwd file from maintenance
mode.

Oh yes, the 5 1/4 diskettes are normally stored in 2 gray binders.
Good Luck.
