Non-IBM RAM for IBM NetVista 6270?

I'm attempting to add 256MB of SDRAM to an older IBM NetVista 6270 PC. So
far none of the 3rd party SDRAM I've tried will work in this system.

IBM wants to charge me triple the price of generic RAM for their needlessly
certified memory. Is there a way around this? Is there any reasonably
priced generic memory that will work in one of these deliberately crippled
IBM systems?

NetVista 6270 systems should use 168pin, non-parity, unbuffered, PC-133,
SDRAM DIMMs with sizes of 64MB (8Mx64), 128MB (16Mx64), or 256MB (32Mx64).
