I upgraded my PS/2 Model 30 from MCGA to VGA using the ATI Basic16 VGA
card. It simply required plugging the card in a slot and and attaching the
monitor connection to the card. The card is self configuring on power-up and
the manual includes specific instructions for the Model 30. There are no
jumpers or switches to set, nothing could be easier. BTW - for those who may
not know, the IBM PS/2 Model 30 is an 8086 machine which uses a subset of the
VGA graphics standard and thus has a VGA compatible monitor (do not confuse
the Model 30 with the Model 30-286 which is an 80286 with built-in VGA). I am
completely satisfied with this upgrade, cost was less than $100.
Hope this helps, Jim
