I have a Western Digital Caviar 22000 (2Gb) HDD which I am trying to
format and setup as a primary master. Each time I try to install the OS
(I've tried NT4.0, 95 and 2000) I get the same message, that the drive
cannot be written to. Any ideas???

Check the bios for functions like 'virus warning', write protect MBR or
track 0, set it to disabled.

I got this message when I tried to fdisk/format a WD 30 GB drive
(added as a second HDD) from a command prompt window.
When I booted to "DOS" from a floppy disk, the fdisk and format
commands worked okay.
