I can't get my computer to reconize my yamaha cdr-102 as a drive
letter. My SCSI card reconizes it, but when any other drivers load it
says no cd-rom drives found on boot up. I have never worked with a
SCSI card before and don't know how to assign drive letters. I have
enclosed a copy of my AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. If anybody has
any suggestions please E-Mail me at ces...@ix.netcom.com

i HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM.

I can't get my external Yamaha 102 to read a disk like a CD-Rom drive. I
can only read disks from EZ-CD pro or Jeff Arnold's freeware. It shows up
in file manager as a drive, but when I try to see the files, it tells me
that there's no disk in the drive. When I try to access it in dos, I get
an Abort, retry, fail. I have 2 ide hard drives and an internal CD-Rom.

Help anyone?!?!?

Hi,

Aren't we all having problems with our CDRs?

Here is what I had to do to get Win95 to read CDs on my Yamaha 102,
with my Adaptec 2940/7870.

Autoexec.bat:
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:ASPICD01 /L:F
Config.sys:
DEVICE=D:\SCSI\ASPI8DOS.SYS /D
DEVICE=D:\SCSI\ASPICD.SYS /D:ASPICD01

Then had to take off the Parity Jumpter on the back of the Yamaha 102
drive, and then it worked in dos and win95.

My frustrating problem is that I received EZ CD Pro Win95 V1.0 and it
keeps saying "can't find a supported CDR". Although the demo of Gear's
CDR software finds it fine.

Any suggestions out there?

Take Care, Mike Linhart

Well, you can try calling INCAT long distance phone number and talk to
some pleasant people that know absolutely nothing about hardware.
Although, they'll just tell you that you have bad memory chips. That
seems to be their standard answer.

Key point, get a QUALITY program, not Easy CD Pro.

I use Easy CD Pro for Windows 95 with my HP 4020i and everything is working fine !!
Just waiting for the update to Easy CD Pro version 1.1 buth almost every software for
Windows 95 have some (litle) bugs in it, name one without...

Incat is also profiding support via e-mail so DON'T call long distance.
You write to get a QUALITY program...name one.... I try'd several programs to write CD's
Lot's of them in't working here, like Corel, our server is keepon reboting after install it.

Let the people chose there own programms, for me is ... the best and for you ... is the best.

Windows 95 allows you to assign drive letters directly to the CD Rom
drives. And when using Corel's CD-Creator enhanced 32-bit CD-Rom device
drivers, your CDR-102 can be assigned a drive letter in the same
fashion, also eliminataing the need for the real mode drivers in the
Config.sys and the Autoexec.bat. I can only assume that Windows95 will
support the Soundblaster/CD combination natively since I don't have a CD
hooked to the SB16 in my machine. If you can move away from real mode
devices, like MSCDEX and ASPICD.SYS, your system performance with the
CD-Rom readers will improve.

Maybe its the drivers below thats causing the problem. They are only
needed if you want to use the 102 as a reader.
