Can someone tell me the type number I need to enter in the CMOS setup for
a MAXTOR 7120AT? Or the number of cylinders, heads, and sectors?

Thanks,

That's funny, because I have a Maxtor 7120AT and my setting is:

: Type 47. 936 Cyls, 16 heads, 17 sectors/tracks.

For a total of 124Mb. Never had any problems with it...

Well, that is strange. What does anyone else have?

I used to have a spec sheet on these drives, and they accept about 4 different
BIOS settings and will give you 4 different sizes.... use the one that
gives you the largest size (I think it was the 124Mb one)

The reason this works is because IDE drives do translation of whatever
you put into the BIOS anyhow.

If you really want I might be able to find the sheet.....

I had to figure out the settings on my 7120at the other day when my cmos
decided to roll over and play dead, and found out that Maxtor has an
automated 800 line that carries all their drive info!

I wish every major manufacturer did that.
