p.s. I didn't see any information about this on the Iomega
web site, nor any update to the software.

The bad news is, the tape software is available only from
their BBS at 801-778-5888, they claim this is a restriction
imposed by the "3rd party" they license the software from.
For full details, see
http://www.iomega.com/support/techs/ditto/
in particular the following documents:

../3050.html
../3108.html
../3035.html
The restore procedure is as follows.
Reinstall Windows 95 from scratch. Just a basic configuration is needed,
really all you need is enough so you can boot into Windows 95. Reinstall the
Ditto Tools software, then restore. You would likely have to rebuild your
catalogue from the tape, so when backing up, make sure you have the
Save catalogue on tape option set. When it's all said and done, reboot the
computer and it should be restored. I've done this a few times and it's worked
more or less everytime.
BTW, the latest Ditto Tools software is 5.2.1, which adds the Tape drive to
the System Hardware configuration under System in the Control Panel.

Thanks to Andréas Schütz (Uppsala, Sweden) and Chris

By the way, I learned that it is really inconvenient
to download a file from a BBS unless your PC is directly
attached to a modem with a standard phone line (like a
home computer user would typically have). Even someone
in our PC Support department was frustrated in his
attempt to get the file from the Iomega BBS. So I'm
glad you indicated an "alternative" site.
And for home users, how about the expense of the long
distance phone call (including the time to download a
2MB file)? Doesn't seem like Iomega cares much about
supporting their customers.

Would this mean then that the Backup.exe program that comes with Win
95 could then detect and use the Internal Ditto 3.2 accelrator card
and drive?
Not sure. I had thought I read somewhere that the Windows 95 BackUp does not
support Travan tapes, which are probably the best ones to use on this drive
since I believe they offer the highest compression of all compatible tapes. I
use Travan tapes with the included Ditto Tools. Works well enough so I'm not
about to mess around with MS BackUp!
