I'd like to know too, I have a Winbond EIDE controller built
into my mother board and it's not EIDEing with Windows 95.
Try the WorldWide Web, http://www.tekram.com/
TEKRAM produces a Local Bus Winbond based controller and recently
released (first Beta !) win95 drivers downloadable from their web
pages.
Unfortunately, their drivers did no good to my winbond based PCI-IDE
controller integrated on my motherboard so if anyone can comment on
these please !
My PC is a hyundai P590 with onboard Winbond controller with a DOS
driver from TEKRAM, but since TEKRAM is not the producer of the OEM
hardware they do not seem to have any drivers for it.
their DOS driver says (at bootup):
Tekram Enhanced DOS IDE driver. Version 1.38
For W83769F IDE Accelerator

Look familiar to anyone ?

I can't find any drivers there though.

i also have a winbond controller. at www.promise.com, under items for
oem, there are some drivers for controller boards that use promise
chips.
my winbond p2630vl uses the promise pdc20630 chip for which there is a
driver at www.promiss.com. (the windows and nt drivers are also there -
the vg4.system etc).
however, after installation, win95 only operated in dos compatiable mode
with a drastic decrease in throughput (according to norton's harddrive
test utility a reduction of about 25-30%; and otherwise, system
performance is degraded in dos compatiable mode)
if anyone has had better throughput with this win95 driver or be able
to avoid win95 running in dos compatiable mode, i would appreciate
information.
i have a winbond p2630vl vesa controller that uses a promise chip
numbered pdc20630. at www.promise.com, there are drivers for oem's
that used promise chips.
i installed the win95 driver for my controller, but win95 would only
run in dos compatiable mode thereafter. dos compatiable mode ==>
poorer overall performance and reduced as harddisk throughput.
anyone have success avoiding the dos compatiable mode??
there response is that they do not have/make a winbond p2630 harddisk
controller.
appears that www.winbond.com.tw is a different company with a similar
name that has nothing to do with harddisk controllers.
