How to load lsl.com, netx.com, and ipxodi.com in high memory in DOS

I have a few IBM ISA and Microchannel machines with 3COM 10 baseT cards. I am
using IPXODI.COM, LSL.COM, AND 3C5X9.COM to connect to a netware server.

How can I load these drivers high so that they don't take away the
conventional memory available to other DOS programs.

If this is the wrong newsgroup, please refer to the correct one.

Thanks.

This one is simple:

LH LSL.COM
LH 3C5X9.COM
LH IPXODI.OM
NETX.EXE
F:

I tried to load high NETX.EXE to no avail.

I believe Novell has NETXMS.EXE which, according to its name, loads part
of itself into XMS.

The only thing I have to add to the above is that your must have
'DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS' in your config.sys, right below the
'DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS' command. Also, anywhere in your config.sys, you
must have the command 'DOS=HIGH,UMB', which tells DOS to take care of
controlling Upper Memory. EMM386 is required for DOS to be able to do
this. It's too bad, because EMM386 really slows down your system IMHO.

If you can afford a memory mananger, go with 386Max. PCWorld June ran
tests of Memory Managers and said 386Max gave you almost as much Upper
Memory as QEMM, but with no performance loss. I guess they were saying
QEMM causes system performance to go down, even though they didn't come
out and say it :)

You might also check to see what version netx.exe is. I have run into
problems with some of the older versions of netx.exe and DOS 6.2.
Novell has the most recent version available via FTP from novel.com
(I think this is the address).

If you use DOS 6.x, just put the LSL etc. commands in AUTOEXEC.BAT and
let MEMMAKER do the work for you. Works just fine with all of the ODI
drivers i"ve used.
