I have newest Dell Optiplex 760 with built-in 1Gb ethernet. I bought new
manufactured cat5e. Windows detects it as 1Gb. I made the customized cat5e
350mhz with RJ45 connectors. Windows detects it as 100Mb. How does it
increase to 1000Mb ? Any help?

Thanks!
Jack

Sometimes the problem arises due to sync issues with the router or
switch that you're connecting to. Turning the switch off and unplugging
it completely from the power mains for about 10 minutes might take care
of that. If not, then try locking it to 1000Mb without using auto-detect.

So, a "store bought" cable allows your network adapter to run at 1gb, but your
"home made" cable does not? If so, there's a simple explanation for that....
