CD Player won't play Music CD's

Gurus please help!!!

This is a real stumper.My CD rom drive suddenly won't play music CD's
although it functions fine with program disks. I find no conflicts
anywhere. I have an HP Pavilion 7130P with S3 64+ Display controller and a
CS 4232 Audio Codec.
I have updated the drivers in the video card to support DirectX 3.0 and
the system plays all the new DirectX games without a hitch. Recently I
stuck an audio CD in my system and started up the media rack. When I push
the play button, the keyboard locks up solid. Although the mouse does
work, nothing else does. All the device drivers in Windows95 are working
with no confllicts. This one really has me stumped. Does anyone have an
idea what could be wrong??
