I was installing a HD last night and was a bit tired and distracted
and forgot to unplug the thing. Sure enough, a small spark came out of
the back of the HD as I was attaching the power to it.

The system went out and it won't come close to powering now. I opened
the power supply and there only appears to be one fuse. It looked to
be all right, not burnt out or anything.

It's a Cyrix 5x86 motherboard, if that helps.

I know I did a boner. Advice will get my ultimate thanks!

If power supply is still good, which is most likely. Remove hard disk and
controller.
When you turn it back on, the monitor should get the bios display. All new
pnp devices
are hot swap-able; which means there are buffers to take arcing. The power
supply,
if there is a short, will shut down by itself. And will remain good.
You need a new disk controller; if it is on motherboard; you may need a new
motherboard.
