Hi there,
I used to have an old 486DX2/50 and since I had a 1.2 Go hard disk, I
was using Ontrack Disk Manager to have it recognized by my system.

I've just switched to a new configuration which recognizes the disk
without the Ontrack program. Therefore, I would like to get rid of the
disk manager without having to reinstall everything (which seems to be
the only solution provided by Ontrack).

Does anyone know how to do it ? Anyhelp would be appreciated.

From memory there are instructions for uninstalling Ontrack in Segate
HDD manuals. I think that you rerun the Ontrack installer with a command
line switch, it will try and uninstall without losing data. Maybe
someone else can give more information.

You must get a copy of DM to remove the overlay file it uses to
recognize a >528 HD. I guess you still have the copy you used to
install DM? Put the DM disk in A: and type DM. You will see in the
menu an option to remove DM without losing any data. Its that easy.
You cannot use DOS's FDISK to remove DM because it is a non DOS
paritition. jb

Hi,
Thanks to all for the information you provided me.
Unfortunately, I was using version 6.03 of ontrack and there was no
uninstall feature included. I've solved the problem by backing up all
the important files on my system and by reinstalling everything.
