Hi,
I was helping a friend pick out a PC for his home. I thought a P-5 166
would be a good chip to go for. Some one he knows said he should get a
133MHz P-5 because the PC motherboard/Bus can't utilize the CPU speeds over
133 MHz. This sounded like bunk to me but I deferred to the other fella and
my bud got a soon to be extinct 133 P-5

What does any one feel about the slower Bus speed VS. faster CPU speeds?
Are the faster CPUs a waste of the consumers' money?
Can you tell the difference between 133 and 166 PC running Win95 games and
MS-Dos games and interneting?
How can I test Bus speed?

SeeYa,
Tim

IMHO, the difference between a P133 and P166 is very noticeable. Both CPU's
run at 66MHz clock speed and for that reason, the P166 would perform better
on identical systems. Now, if it was a choice between a P133 and a P150, I
would opt for the P133 because the P150 runs on 60MHz bus speed which is
slower than the P133 w/c runs at 66MHz. The CPU may be faster for the P150,
but access to memory, Video, etc is slower, so the faster CPU speed would
give little, if any, noticeable speed over the P133. I would have gotten
the P166. Then again I'm no expert.
