Building a system. Will eventually add a CD-RW drive. Right now I just
want a nice DVD-ROM drive that works as a fast CD-ROM as well.

Can anyone recommend one? Std IDE connector (not SCSI, etc.)

(Don't need the cheapest made, can spend a little $$...)

Thanks.

The Liteon DVD LTD-163 is excellent.
It has the best transfer rates and DAE.
Check on www.cdspeed2000.com

If you want one that works best with CloneCD, then use Toshiba.

If you want one that rips DVD fast, then use Pioneer (latest Toshiba
16X DVD-ROM is LOCKED to rip DVDs at 2X).

For "general use", both work well.
