Joystick to USB adapter

Hello

I bought an adapter for connecting a Joystik (gameport) ia USB to a PC. The
description said "to use an analog standard joystick unedr Windows 98 with USB
interface". I have a standard analog Joystick, a notebook with USB interface
and this adapter, but I can't get it working. The retailer cold not provide
any useful information.
I guessed that I need in the Control Panel under gameController another
interface than "Standard gameport", but how to install this? Anyone an idea?
