Hi! :)

My computer configuration is:

Pentium II MMX 350 Mhz
Microstar 6119 BX440 AGP Motherboard
Hyundai Ist Party 128 MB PC-100 SDRam
Creative SoundBlaster Live Value!
Nucleus Riva TNT 16 Mb AGP Graphics
Aopen 40X IDE CD-Rom Drive
17-in Monitor
Paradise 56K PCI Internal Modem
Sony Internal 1.44 FDD
3.5" IBM Titan 10.1 Gb 7200 rpm harddisk
NMB PS/2 Win95 Keyboard
Primax Flier Mouse
Altec Lansing ACS44 Speaker with Subwoofer
Dazzle Digital Video Creator

I have been having problems with my computer when I surf the Net. When
I used Win98, the computer will hang after a while of surfing the WWW,
regardless of whether I am using Netscape Gold 3.01, Netscape
Communicator 4, or Internet Explorer 4. When I used Win95, I get into
the WWW, then after a short while (one or two minutes), I will be kept
waiting and nothing more will come on the moment I changed to a
different website, I would be kept waiting and waiting. With Win95, the
computer does not freeze up like when in Win98.

I have narrowed down the problem to the Paradise WaveCom 56K 56Kbps PCI
Modem. It is a 32bit PCI Plug & Play high speed modem with voicemail.
It is V.90 ITU/K56flex Standard and utilizes chip set from Lucent
Technologies Microelectronics Group.

How did I find out? Well, I changed my modem and used my old external
Merc336 and everything was fine. No problems whatsoever. I thought
perhaps I need some new drivers for the PCI Modem. I went to Paradise
website and downloaded the latest driver. Changed back to my PCI modem,
installed the new driver and…the problem resurfaced!

I would appreciate some advice. Thank you very much in advance!

Regards
Lolo
