We have a NEC IDE CD260 sitting in a Gateway2000 P-60 that
never worked. I have recently beginning to use the computer
and have found that the driver nec_ide.sys was a wrong driver
(it's for OAKTechnology CD.) Does any one know where I can
get a real "nec_ide.sys" driver (ftp? www? e-mail?)
I tried archie, microsoft support with no avail. I also checked
out NEC's web page. Apparently they don't support old products
or maybe this was an OEM? Gateway's www is apparently still been
built (www.gw2k.com) as I can never get connected there. Or is
there a "general IDE" CDROM driver that will likely to get this
thing to work?
Thank you for your attention.
Edwin
