The intro HAS no speech. You won't get any speech until part-way through
the game, when the Guardian starts saying various inspirational things to
you :-) Don't worry. If you've got music and sound effects then everything
is OK!

Wrong.
If you've got music and *digitized* sound effects, then everything is
okay. But uw2 will do Adlib-style sound effects if it can't find the
Soundblaster's D-to-A.
Make sure that, when you swing your sword, you hear a metallic *clang*.
And that you hear footsteps when you walk. If you don't, you'll never
get any speech. This can sneak up on you: if you apply the patch, be
sure to run UWSOUND again ... I played through two worlds before I
realized that I'd lost digitized sound.

Thank you for the correction. I MEANT digitized sound effects, but I
should have been more specific!
