Hello,

I've been playing Pools of Darkness for a while now and my
characters have enough experience to advance levels but I
can't seem to find anyplace they can train and actually
gain new levels.

Where in the heck can I go?

E-mail or posted responses would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the easiest (and cheapest) is Zhentil Keep...Yeah, I know, the bad
guys, but hey, evil always takes bribes, right?

If you don't mind cheating, use time travel:

(1) Save and quit game.
(2) Start game again and load saved game. Remove any characters
you want to train from the party. Save game (but don't
overwrite game saved in (1) above, just in case).
(3) Start game again. Don't load saved game. Instead, add
characters to new party. The characters you can add will
be the ones you just removed from the party. Add them, then
choose exit from the Add Menu.
(4) You will find yourself back in good old Phlan at the
very beginning of the game. Go to the Training Hall.
Train. Go to an inn. Rest. Learn spells.
(5) Go back to Training Hall. Save the game but not over
top of the game you saved in (2) above. Once you have
saved game, remove everyone from party.
(6) With no one in your party, you'll go back to the initial
menu. Load the game you saved in (2) above. Add the
characters you just trained.

This method works for Player Characters, but not NPCs. Don't try
to train everyone at once -- you have to have at least one person
in your party when you save the game in (2).

This method also works if you're somewhere you can't rest but you
absolutely must fix yourself up and relearn spells. Time travel
back to Phlan, do what you have to do, then go back to the present.
