This sounds like a NASTY bug: I was playing the last encounter (Me as Atreides
vs Sardaukar/Ordos/Harkonnen) and I reached a point where I was happily bashing
the opposing forces, and losing few units. I had about 7 harvesters going, and
accumulated a tasty pile of spice. I made somewhat of a blunder, and lost all
but 4 or my units in the field. I then, in a fit of annoyance, went to the
Starport and ordered a few new rocket launchers. The counter went to 0, and
the frigate never arrived (as it had been doing before.) So I ordered 'em
again - no go. So I'm out cash, and I figure - "live with it." I begin
creating new units with my heavy factory, and I'm only able to make a scant
few. It looks to me like the machine has a set number of units you can have in
the field at any given time (thus the numerous "Unable to create more" messages
we all know and hate). The Starport, on acknowledement of the order, allocated
these spaces. They never did get filled - and I was stuck with 3 rocket
launchers, a pair of sonic tanks and a heavy siege tank. So I played
conservatively and blasted the Ordos, unable to make more than this small
contingent.

My question is, has anyone else seen this problem?

Yes...I've had this happen several times. Haven't figured out the reason
for it. I chalk it up to thievery. =)

Actually, what really confuses me about this is that usually the Starport
will tell me if I can't order more of an item (out of stock message) so I'm
not sure why it's doing what it is. It is annoying though.

re: bug list that somebody posted on this game. Many of the things you
listed aren't bugs in my mind. They are just a bit more realistic. If
you are in the heat of battle your priorities wouldn't be on building or
harvesting, they'd be on the battle. Once the battle has cooled you can
do that stuff again.

The lack of group movements is sorely lacking though.

Yes. If you order more than the computer allows to be on screen at a
time, CHOAM will not deliver. To make more, blast more enemy units, then
build or order again.

It's all in the manual!

When the proglem you describe happened to me, I discovered that the LEFT
side of the starport had to be clear or the shuttle never lands, the
counter just reaches zero, as you say. I used my own units to destroy
the structure I had on the left side, and no more problems.
I don't know if this is the real answer, but it worked for me.....

Hi, yep, I assume everyone has "lost" their frigate. The only way around
it (until Westwood gets the bug fix out) is to build a new starport.

I had the same error with the Starport, my only recourse was to
restore an old saved game. In my case, it was totally unrelated
to the number of units I had already built. Someontimes, I ordered
my first units from the starport and didn't get them. This was the
one bug that really p$ssed me off. The Soundblaster lock-up bug
wasn't too great either.

As annoying as it is, I'd saved every time before I order something
from starport. If it craps out, restore and try again. It worked
for me.

Separate problem I've seen, but could be related.
On my radar screen, I can see a unit which I seemed to have left
behind. I move my display to that area. No unit!
I decided to click on the squares that the radar screen indicates
that I have a unit. Lo and behold, I get a "Reporting!".
I try to move the unit, thinking it's a redraw problem and the
background has obscured the unit, and it says "Acknowledge",
but it DOESN'T move from the spot. This could be using up a unit
slot and reducing the actual number of units I can have, but I didn't
confirm this.

Yes, I've run into that before, and there is really nothing you can
do about it. Especially if the enemy has a large opposing force. The way
I figure it is that when you're talking about total units, that means ALL
of the units. Yep, yours and your opponents. So, I'm not sure if this is a
bug or not, but it's my two cents worth.

Hope I helped,

Just wondering... Does anybody have an opinion on Humans? (The game
not us in general, duhh...) I'm thinking about getting it, but I'd like
to know it's quality in general.

Thanx in advance

It looks to me like the frigate has gotten destroyed when this happens.
I blow up my own starport and build a new one. I then order one of any
item. When it arrives, all my backorder is delivered at the same time.
- Great game.

I, too, have seen this bug - it appears to me that the unit exists in the game
twice. Some playing revealed that the red/blue/green spot that is "lost"
parallels a spot of an existing object - you click on it, it reports, and you
can move it. The REAL unit is somewhere else, fully operational. I've been
able to resolve the problem by telling the unit to move to the "fake" position.
I believe the cause of the problem to be the carryall pickup - the unit moved,
and the carryall picked it up at the position it was at a SECOND ago. Thus,
the unit now exists in two places.
