DG don't run on same machine under different OS.
I wonder why SES does not tried to track user body weight..."
Sorry, I was wrong, the real money quote is:

a little bit rude but I don't let any prisoner escape."

From the SES FAQ file :
Q. Can I sell or transfer the license to someone else?
A: While we make provisions for you to transfer the game license to
another PC, you cannot resell or transfer the Game License to another
individual or company.

Memo to self : log on at GameSquad, look for the killfile button there
too.

Belgian bastard again.
I wrote that in a hurry. Maybe I will buy Jutland but maybe I will not - in
either case I don't like that notion that game cannot be sold. And I've said
it. I can change my mind - but things for you bastard to remember I said it
to them what I don't like.
But you on the other hand are a Matrix puppy who are barking when your
master orders you.
So get lost, you killfiled me so beat it. You have showed your character
enough times already.
And can you grow already - what is of interest what I write, that is my
thing Belgian bastard with no character and moralty at all.
Unluckly around the 15th of the month, every month, I need to do a little
work to sustain myself... :^/

My favorite quote so far is this:
"Professionally, I have a job to keep and my boss is 100% committed to
the DRM thing, so I have do what he says. When I say it's a dead horse,
it's because he's told me, emphatically, that it's a dead horse, and
it's his say-so that matters, to both of us. Not only does he sign my
checks, he decides what customers get."
Memo to J.R.:
It's your customers who decide what your customers get. I've decided I
don't want to deal with all of this bull. And guess what? I'm not!
I don't have problems with your DRM, I have never had to move your
license, I'm very pleased with my DRM-free relationship with SES. Do
you know why? I *decided* not to buy your product!
Now pardon me - I just think I saw that horse try to get up again.
You know what wasn't in that post ? a "we" reference - it's work for
him, my boss, he says. It's pretty clear who's calling the shots over
at SES and it ain't NK.
There's a reason JR is so bend on keeping the DRM. He says that their
logs show plenty of attempts to hack/pirate the software. Of this I
have no doubts, but the question he isn't asking himself is : how many
of those would-be pirates have I turned into customers ? And how many
customers have I lost because of the DRM. I've got the impression that
he simply doesn't care about the money lost because thwarting the
pirates makes him feel good (who can blame him there). The only thing
missing of course is droves of adoring fans . At one point he'll have
to decide what gives him the biggest kick : sticking it to the pirates
or fame and recognition. His call.
Greetz,
Eddy Sterckx
He's already a legend in his own mind Eddy; I truly believe he lives in
his own mental world, which of course, has nothing in common with reality.

Gack. I predict a flood of irritated typing from OstVolkistan.

"The Marine Corps far surpassed its recruiting goal last month and could
eventually be more than a year ahead of schedule in its plan to grow the
force to 202,000 members. All military services met or exceeded their
monthly recruiting goals in April, with the Marine Corps signing 142
percent of the number it was looking for."

Splendid.
Yeah, but reality has a tendency to poke you in the eyes until you
start to take notice. Guess what our pal just posted :
"Now, about our copy protection.
We have a second generation copy protection that will ship with
Jutland.
It builds on what we have already created and will allow the end user
to re-activate our games on any computer, without our help, if all
else fails."
http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1001509&postcount=46
Now, If I can read this correctly and provided he actually managed to
be accurate in his wording this can only mean there's going to be a
much less stricter DRM. It'll still be called a server activation DRM
for face-saving purposes, but that is not what is described above.

One wonders how the copy-protection could *know* that "all else has failed".
That would imply a level of AI unheard of even in experimental work on the
field of thinking machines.

Hmmm. What makes him think that these "logs" of his register only
*unsuccessful* efforts to pirate the software? And does he understand
that the warez version of DG *doesn't phone home*?
Mind you - you're talking about the guy who claimed I was a pirate
based on those same logs - must be really miracle logs - the other
possibility is that he wouldn't recognize a log if it bit him in the
lower backside and is just parotting what his web guy told him.
And if I was his webguy I'd claim zillions of pirating attempts
defeated this month alone and asking for a well-deserved raise :)
Greetz,
Eddy Sterckx
Exactly what number goes with "many, many" and over what period of
time was the count taken? I'm holding my breath for good ol' JR to
provide the raw data so that it can be evaluated by an independent
third party.
But if you can't beat 'em, why not join them? I know of "many, many
and more" wargamers who would buy Norm's naval games if they sold the
game (and not merely a license) and had not polluted it with their DRM.
Ostvolkistan struck again! LOL
This is getting hillarious! :)))))))

Hmmm.......interesting. Of course, thats assuming one would trust JR for

The fact that the current administration is about to go the way of the dodo
does seem to be good marketing! :o)

Sure, and we are at about seven and half - this is exactly what I meant.
Imagine to be back in 2004, with the remote but still technically possible
occourrence of "FOUR MORE YEARS!" Brrrr! :o)
But current signees can look forward to "100 years in Iraq" under
McCain, or an invasion of Pakistan under Obama, or an invasion of Iran
under Clinton when she "obliterates" it. All good recruiting fodder... ;-)

For a second I though this was comparing the severity of the Distant
Guns DRM to a nuclear attack on Iran or a "100 year war" in Iraq. It is
a pretty bad system.
But I see we've left the topic.

The laughable thing about these stories is that recruiting is strongly
cyclical. The press will grimly report, "RECRUITING FELL 50% SHORT IN
DECEMBER!!!" in end-of-the-world type ... but April / May / June / July
will meet and exceed targets with great ease.
The reasons are blazingly obvious; soldiers graduate and enlist. Pretty
obvious, unless you're a retard like o'hara or the editor of the NY
Times.

Yup - total honesty - if you read it correctly.
Greetz,
Eddy Sterckx
Umm.. last time I looked, the Editor of the NYT didn't set the
recruitment goals.
If what you are saying is the true root cause (rather than the lack of
desire to be a bullet sponge for some jihadi as others suggest), then
the true idiots are the ones who are setting the recruitment goals.
They should set them higher in the months when there are more recruits
available and lower in the other months... Seems self evident to me.
Neepster
I'm amazed that the Chronicle reported the news. They're no better than
the Times usually.
So get back on it if it bothers you so much.
Distant Guns DRM is worse than an invasion of Pakistan!
Like that?
Close, but since the invasion of Pakistan is an off-topic subject, no
dice.
Try again.

I don't know. This is one of those "you're with us or against us"
topics. It's fun to rant about the latest J.R. nonsense, but I don't
pretend that I can advance the discussion in any meaningful way at this
stage. And once this topic goes into the "I hate George Bush" realm, I
don't believe it can be dragged back.
I just had a moment of amusing mis-comprehension contrasting the subject
line with the actual text of the post. Thought I'd share.
yes the reason is obvious. they change the levels they are looking for.
its called moving the goal posts.
the preplenishment in not equaling the attrition.
"lies, damned lies, and statistics"
Understood. At the same time, if any thread wouldn't be "bothered" with
an OT topic, a Distant Guns thread would qualify easily <g>. Not like
theres a great game to talk about.
What attrition numbers are you referring to ?.
It took long enough this time.
Ironically, my opening line for the thread "DRM and Bioware - some steps
back":
"With the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan still full of uncertainities,
Bioware decided to partially step back from their "smarter and cooler"
activation scheme"
...Was ***totally in topic***, since EA/Bioware quoted "the needs of the
soldiers serving oversea" as the reason to dial back their previous DRM
scheme to one... hmmm.... still worse than "Bioshock"'s one.
Statistics are what you made of them. The net value of my personal stock
portfolio grew over 30% since Jan 1st, 2008 - hooray!
Except that it had been almost *halved* by the subprime crisis in mid 2007 -
not something I mention during my usual tours in the street with my penis
waving a flag, of course.
> It's fun to rant about the latest J.R. nonsense
You discovered the True Purpose (tm) of this ng : it's fun to rant :)

I'd be happy if this nutfuck could define "preplenishment."
