Herman is still banned, BTW. I find interesting that a dude burning from
"righteous anger" towards a buglist and PDb does seem to avoid to speak
directly with him - right here on the NG, for example here, or on one of the
forums frequented by Herm. On a second thought, I'm not surprsed at all.
My God, why would he? Some irrefutable FACTS might just get in the
way.

Because the natural reaction of sane people when pointed to a Harpoon
related URL is to quickly re-boot their computer to make sure nothing
lingers in memory, I'm providing this service : here's the link to an
example of Mr. Beretta's work which I found the most interesting part
of that thread :

Greetz,

Which reminds me that the first two books are already out in Belgium,
published by Albin-Michel =)

Dutch version :

I know I've held the French version in my hand at some point because
"outremer" is the historical term for the crusader lands so I was
thinking it was a tale against a crusades background - put it back
down as it looked like "just another fantasy thingie" - didn't realize
you wrote it :)
Greetz,
Eddy Sterckx
The title is willingly "multifaceted". There *is* a crusade, in the second
book, in the fantasy equivalent of southern/eastern middle east, but
"Outremer" is actually the name of an "ONU/NATO-like" organization where an
alliance of kingdoms pools both armies, agents and intelligence resources to
both keep peace (and an eye on things) where they do have commercial
interest, and do "international police actions" when necessary.
However the *true* meaning behind the name, "Outremer" ("Beyond the Sea")
will be revealed in the third volume (to be published), and let's say that
it will be a "Sixth Sense"-level plot twist (but different than the one in
"The Sixth Sense", of course). The "crusade" in the second book was actually
a way to mislead the reader about the true meaning of the title ;^)
One word of caution: the French translation of the first book is horrible:
about 30% of the text was cut. The second one, however, is good (they fired
the first translator, thanks to god). Also, the French edition lacks the map
of the world (available for free in the Italian edition).
