Let me start by saying that I've both read the manual and looked at
the
help screens but there are a couple of things I don't understand
(actually more than a couple but I'll just start with these <g>):

1. How do you invoke the Archangel power of resurrection? Is it just
random or is there a way you can direct it?

2. Regarding the town portal spell, does the nearest town have to be
completely empty as the manual implies or can there be some creatures
there as long as there is enough room for your hero and his army?
Does
the hero appear on the top row or as a visitor?

I just bought this game and am really enjoying it!

Thanks,
Ken

When it's the Angels turn, place the cursor over a friendly stack and
you should get the spell icon to invoke their ability. It's the same
as when using Ogre Mages Bloodlust ability and similar creature
abilities/spells.

It appears as a visitor, so you just need to make sure no other party
is visiting the town. It's been a while ... I don't recall if the
spell will fail if there is a visiting hero there already, or if
you'll transport to the next closest town where there is room. Save
the game and experiment a little bit.

Welcome. It's a great game. I got into the series back in the
initial version and have enjoyed them all, but most regard HoMM III as
the best of the lot.

BTW, you might get more responses in the c.s.i.p.g.strategic (not
strategy) group. I actually only saw your message because I clicked
on the "wrong" group. :)
