After you are awarded the Necromancers Guild, you will always have a
level 5 Necromancer hero available in the following scenarios. The hero
is Brother Brax, and he should be available to hire right off the bat.
Unfortunatly the hero's skills are spread out, so he only starts with
basic necromancy, but he's still worth buying.

The necromancers guild makes Brother Brax, a fifth level necromancer,
available for hire in the first week of each scenario. I'd rather have the
ogre alliance.
As for defeating Roland, I came into the final scenario with 19 black
dragons, 700+ skeletons, 28 power liches, 80+ griffins, and 100+ gargoyles,
and it was a walkover. If you start with significantly less than this, and
you are having trouble, consider replaying the previous scenario. If you
start with about this much force, just go north and start kicking butt.
Nothing will be able to stand up to you. Once you gain some experience and
artifacts, go squish Roland.
